When Life Isn’t All Sunshine, Roses, and Unicorns

My day didn’t go according to plan.

I don’t mean to be a downer, or the party-pooper, or the bah-humbug of life; but if you haven’t noticed….SOMETIMES LIFE JUST STINKS. We have built up these un-realistic expectations in our brain, worked up our emotions about our day, and then SPLAT! Like a fly on a car windshield, our plans blow up in our face. And it sometimes kinda hurts.

But what should we do when the uncomfortable happens? When life gets messy? When God says no? Embrace it. All of it. Not just the pretty parts. Not just the things that tickle the brain and make us feel warm and fuzzy inside. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. In the midst of our hectic days, when it’s 3 in the afternoon and you haven’t showered, dressed or read your Bible yet. Or how about when you yell at your kids? When you seem like a complete failure? Yep. God says even then….EVEN NOW, God, I’m enough. He tells me I have worth. He tells me to run into His forever open arms and wraps me up tight. I will always be enough. Besides, He died for me. For all of us. And not the (what we think of) perfect, un-blemished side of us. Cause, if He died for that, what would make His sacrifice meaningful?
