Counted With The Stars by Connilyn Cossette (ANOTHER book review!)

These are the types of books that change you.

{A Story of Love, Desperation, and Hope During a Great Biblical Epoch

Sold into slavery by her father and forsaken by the man she was supposed to marry, young Egyptian Kiya must serve a mistress who takes pleasure in her humiliation. When terrifying plagues strike Egypt, Kiya is in the middle of it all.

To save her older brother and escape the bonds of slavery, Kiya flees with the Hebrews during the Great Exodus. She finds herself utterly dependent on a fearsome God she’s only just beginning to learn about, and in love with a man who despises her people. With everything she’s ever known swept away, will Kiya turn back toward Egypt or surrender her life and her future to Yahweh?}

I saw this book and the summary INSTANTLY piqued my interest. I’ve always loved history-specifically Biblical history-so this book was a treat for my reading palette. I don’t think I’ve ever read such a satisfying book before. I don’t find anything negative in the story or plot, because it was just so beautifully written! I’m telling you, Connilyn is for sure an author to keep on your “watch list”! There were several twists and turns that were not in the original Exodus story (they were in Kira’s own journey) so I think her life really amped up the plot for me. She was such a guilt-ridden character! I felt soo sorry for her! She needed freedom. Also, I was really drawn into Tekurah’s story. She was so cruel! I was amazed how cool, calm and collected Kira and Shira stayed. I gasped at all the shocking parts, and cried at all the somber moments, too. The author’s writing just draws you and never lets you go-I couldn’t stop reading! I even took it in the car and bathtub with me. It was just. So. Good.

And Connilyn, can’t wait for the rest of the series! *eek!* So excited to reunite with my buddies Shira, Eben, Jumo, and Kira again!
